St. Faustina
In this week’s podcast, I share about how Jesus chose St. Faustina Kowalski to share with the world in a special way how deep is His mercy.
He gave us, through her, the chaplet of Divine Mercy, and with it He gave us these promises:
- as we pray the chaplet it brings all of humankind closer to God
- those who pray the chaplet will be embraced by the Lord’s mercy, both during their lives and when they die
- when we say it at a person’s deathbed, Jesus will envelop the dying person in His mercy
Divine Mercy Sunday
Jesus wanted the Sunday after Easter to be Divine Mercy Sunday.
John Paul II beatified Faustina on that day, and then in the year 2000, he canonized Faustina on the Sunday after Easter, declaring it as Divine Mercy Sunday.
John Paul II himself died on the vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday, was beatified on Divine Mercy Sunday, and then canonized on it.
Fr. Rick Thomas’s last public Mass
Father Thomas’s last public Mass, before dying 15 days later, was on Divine Mercy Sunday at The Lord’s Ranch. His homily was all about the mercy of God, and I share part of his homily here.
Our world is in great need of God’s mercy. So let’s keep praying the chaplet of Divine Mercy and keep showing mercy to one another.
