On the Lord’s Ranch during the spring we have about three to four months of wind. The other day we were having one of our extra gusty days. The winds were blowing at about 40 miles per hour with gusts as high as 47 miles per hour. This weather isn’t conducive to going out and feeding the animals. However, I needed to go feed the chickens and collect the eggs. So I ran out there and fed and watered the chickens as quickly as possible.
Then I thought, “I am going to run over to the nearby grotto and say a quick prayer before running home.” While I was in the grotto area, the wind gusts got stronger so I crawled into the stone area where the statue of Mary is. It was almost as if Mary, like a good mother was saying, “Here crawl in here with me.” I sat on the rock, put my arms around the statue of Mary, and watched the windstorm in which dust and dirt were flying. I felt safe in that rock shelter holding on to Mary. In fact, as I sat there seeing and hearing the effects of the wind, I realized that I didn’t feel it at all. Of course, it was because the rocks were protecting me, however, I did think about the parable that was going on.
The storm can rage but when we cling to the Rock, Jesus, and to his dear Mother Mary, we are safe. We are totally safe. We know this by faith, but this drama the Lord was putting on for me made it so clear. I could see the wild storm and yet feel none of it. I felt at peace and safe with Jesus and Mary. It was so beautiful.
I just wanted to share that experience with you. Jesus and Mary are with us in all the storms of life. Just crawl in there next to them. They have you wrapped up in their arms of love and protection.
God bless,
Mary Ann /Mother Hen
