“For we can do this with God’s help, which always remains available, even if we do not clearly perceive it.”
St. Ignatius of Loyola, Spiritual Exercises #320
Continuation of a series of talks I give on St. Ignatius of Loyola’s rules for discernment of spirits, drawing on Fr. Timothy Gallagher’s material as well as the actual rules from the Spiritual Exercises.
Rule #7 – St. Ignatius tells that even though we don’t feel God’s love and grace, God still gives us sufficient grace to get through the desolation.
Rule #8 – be patient: the desolation will pass and consolation will return.
Scriptures:
- Acts 14:22
- 1 Corinthians 10:13
