What happened on Palm Sunday – first the people cheered for Jesus, shouting, “Hosanna in the highest!” There were a lot of disciples present, waving palm branches.
But a few days later these folks were yelling, “Crucify him, crucify him. We have no king but Caesar.” What happened?
People are fickle — one day this, the other day that. Being fickle means you don’t have any inner strength. You go with your emotions and lack a firm decision.
This is the history of God’s people. We see it in Exodus. God delivered the Israelites in a dramatic way but they soon forgot and were complaining against God and Moses.
God commands his people to recall what the Lord did for them to deliver them out of slavery. God knows how humans are: we are fickle, we forget.
We need to call to mind the things God has done for us, and pass those marvels on to our children and grandchildren. Repeat, people forget!
